Quill Developer Documentation

At Quill we believe that seamless integration with the tools and apps that teams use on a day-to-day basis is crucial for staying in flow and being productive.

While we have some ambitious ideas here, we recognize the importance of bringing along the apps and integrations you are already familiar with. To that extent, we have built out a Slack-compatible API as a starting point for integrations. We have extended that API and will continue to extend it in meaningful ways.

Quill-Only API Extensions

While we're using the Slack API as a base layer for our integrations API, we have a lot of ideas on how to add richer capabilities to the platform. Below are some of the additions we've made:

  • Shortcuts allow you to operate over a contiguous range of messages instead of just a single message. This allows users to select full conversations versus individual messages.
  • Incoming Webhooks have a thread_uid property that allows you to create a thread and automatically thread replies without storing any Quill state in your application.
  • Incoming Webhooks have a title property that allow you to set a title on a newly created thread, or update the title on an existing thread.

...and much more to come! Stay tuned for more updates. If you have any ideas you'd like us to build out, please get in touch!
